Meeting proposed with Dean

I have spoken with the Chair of aviation (Scott Feinermann) about scheduling a meeting with the Dean below is the text of the emails sent. If any current students in classes or students waiting to get into a class have any concerns or issues that they would like to bring up then please leave a comment.

"CHANGE REQUIRES THAT YOU EXCEPT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG"
The students are demanding a meeting with the Dean ASAP!!!!
Please do not let this get to a stupid situation like last year. Let's work it out now!!
I will be eagerly awaiting your reply. I will forward this to the admin as well as faculty when I have a moment. I would hope that you would discuss it with them.
Thanks for you time and effort in dealing with a tough position.>
John,
Your passion is appreciated.
You are correct that the Aviation facility is underused, for Aviation.
Based on previously low enrollments, the administration reduced the number of Aviation class sections - eliminating the day program. It is the administration's desire to use the space for other programs, during the day. The Aviation/Hospitality/Travel Division has "no say" about this.
If you believe students have input to this process, you are welcome to offer documentation to support countering the administration's decision and show the potential for increased enrollment numbers and revenues that will be generated by the college.
Arranging a meeting with our Dean is simple. I will ask her for an available time.

Scott ,
Thanks for the reply - As explained in detail last year the low enrollment #'s were either cooked by Admin. or showed extreme naivete with respect to demand for aviation maintenance by the industry. Let's move on; for demand is even higher now.Obviously the only way to support the Aviation Program and facility is through industry(financial) support. This is how education works now;and is a given and easily supplied considering what the facility has to offer a company or organization. By chance WLAC is in proximity to the "Hot Bed" of aviation and aerospace in America today!! If this is not grasped by all ,then someone has been watching to many movies(being made) during the day.
BTW aviation cargo is a vital part of commercial air travel. With out it planes that carry passenger would not fly. It has been suggested that hospitality should incorporate a logistics course.Maybe this could bridge the gap between Aviation and Travel.
Sorry if I sound so acerbic and it is not with out appreciation, for the faculty and yourself ; that have given so much of your time to help all the students achieve a better education.
Looking forward to the meeting - students are requesting an evening meeting centered around class time.

DR. ROCHA saves the day

PRESIDENT Dr. Mark Rocha and administration saves the day by reinstating the summer classes. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK, DR. ROCHA ,ROBERT SPRAGUE, DR. MATTEO, AND SCOTT FEINERMAN, for supporting the aviation maintenance program at WLAC.
Even during budget cut backs and changes to the college. Dr. Rocha and the administration have shown a commitment to aviation maintenance at the college. We herald the Administration and faculty for finding a way to keep the program going during tough financial times.
As students we need to continue to show our commitment to the program and the school.
PLEASE register for classes early and outreach to other prospective students.
NOW lets bring this world class aviation facility up to its full potential.
The morning fall classes have not been reinstated; if you feel that we should keep the morning program then please comment below. We believe that it is important to keep the morning program intact. To do this the administration needs to know how not having the morning classes effects you.
PLEASE COMMENT
and THANKS Dr. ROCHA

Summer Classes

IT IS NOT OFFICIAL BUT WE RECEIVED WORD THAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS GOING TO REINSTATE THE SUMMER SESSION.
THE CLASSES OFFERED WILL BE 7&8 AND 15&16 AS SOON AS WE KNOW FOR SURE WE WILL POST IT HERE. IN THE MEAN TIME GO TO http://www.wlac.edu/ AND REGISTER FOR THOSE CLASSES ;EVEN IF IT IS FOR THE FALL SEMESTER.
The administration has said nothing about reinstating the morning session. We all know how important that having the option of morning session is critical to the program. WE WILL KEEP THE PRESSURE ON TO TRY AND GET AT LEAST 1 CLASS IN THE MORNING IN THE FALL.
IT IS NOT OFFICIAL THAT CLASSES HAVE BEEN REINSTATED FOR SUMMER.
We will keep you posted

Dr. Rocha needs to resign

DR. ROCHA NEEDS TO RESIGN
The meeting last night between Bob Sprague and Dr Mateo ( Dr Rocha refuses to meet with the students) shows the mistakes made by the administration at WLAC. They showed fully their lack of knowledge of the Aviation maintenance program at the school that they administer . Bob Sprague denies the truth that the demand for aviation mechanics with a license will continue for 10 years. If he would have only done a little research on labor statistics he would not have sounded so incredibly naive. Dr Mateo does not even know the title of program that she is the Dean of!! At this point there is only one option ; Dr Rocha , Dr Mateo , Bob Sprague and Scott Feinerman should resign. These individuals have shown that they do not have the ability to manage WLAC aviation.
The demands are the same - reinstate summer classes and make a full commitment to the morning and evening program.
Sony pictures and Hollywood CPR supporters will be informed of their involvement in the devastation of a much need educational resource and its negative impact on the students. All local politicians will also be informed of the actions by DR. ROCHA ,LACCD and WLAC administration in the previous year to misinform the students and seriously undermine a very powerful educational resource.
